Then use lukewarm water and antibacterial soap to wash the tattoo. Now, patting your skin dry. To heal the tattoo beautifully, you should evenly moisturize and clean your skin, don't expose the skin to direct sunlight and avoid picking or itching your new design.

How to Take Care of Your Tattoo?

1. Daily Wash and Moisturize Your Tattoo Until the Scabs are Gone:

Wash your tattoo with antibacterial soap and lukewarm water continuously for 2 to 3 times a day until it's fully healed. Depending on the size and location of your tattoo, it may take 2 to 6 weeks to get fully healed.

  • Always use unscented mild soap when washing  the tattoo.
  • Moisturizing is very important. So while moisturizing your tattoo be careful that the tattoo does not smother in ointment or lotion. All the thing required is you should require a thin layer of the moisturizer.

2. Protect Your Tattoo from Direct Sunlight:

Exposing a tattoo in direct sunlight can cause blisters to your skin and fade your tattoo colors due to bleach. So until your tattoo's initial position gets fully healed, it's better to cover your tattoo while going outside for at least 3 to 4 weeks.

  • Always apply sunscreen on the tattoo to prevent it from fading when it's fully healed.

3. Avoid Scratching or Picking at Your Tattoo:

It is very normal that your tattoo will start to scab over when it heals. Allow your scab to dry out and fall by themselves. Scratching or picking at your tattoo can leave holes or light spot on the tattoo. So avoid scratching or picking to speed up the process.

  • It's very common that as your tattoo starts to dry, peeling skin or scabbing can become itchy. But scratching the tattoo can cause your scabs to fall off.
  • If itchiness become a problem, apply moisturizing ointment to combat itching.

4. Avoid Irritating Your Tattoo by Wearing Clean Loose-fitting Clothes:

Restrict the use of wearing tight fitting clothes when the tattoo is especially new. As your tattoo starts healing, it will seep plasma and excess ink. As a result, the clothes get stuck to the tattoo. Then it will become painful to remove clothing and may rip off any freshly formed scabs.

  • Do not pull your clothing when it gets stuck to the tattoo. Wait the area with water so that it will lose the clothing and can be easily remove without damaging the tattoo.
  • As oxygen is essential for the healing process of the tattoo, so try not to wear tight clothes since it will prevent enough oxygen from getting to your tattoo.

5. Keep Your Tattoo Away from Soaking in Water:

Don't soak the tattoo in water. Avoid swimming in the ocean, pool and even bathtub. Soaking you tattoo in lots of water can pull the ink and result in damaging your tattoo's appearance. The water can also infect your tattoo as it sometimes contains bacteria, dirt or other chemicals.

  •  Rinse your tattoo in the sink or shower until the tattoo gets healed. Once it gets healed,  you can resume these activities.

6. Avoid Doing Strenuous Work Until Your Tattoo Gets Heal:

Doing physical activities can force your skin to move around too much. It will take longer to heal your tattoo, in case it covers a large surface area or near your joints such as knees and elbows. This movement will result in cracking of skin which becomes irritated, and prolonging the healing process.

  • Wait for a few days to heal your tattoo before involving in a job that consists of physical activities such as construction or dance.
